Let me describe you one of the cases of how do I use frequently flying miles.

I arrived in Sydney Airport at 5.30am for a flight from Sydney to Hong on Cathay Pacific Business Class Flight.

I have access to the Qantas Business Class Lounge as my ticket is a Business Class Ticket on Flight No. CX110. Normally this is the case for airport lounge access when you have a Business or First Class seat.
I personally don’t chase lounge access for Airlines as I use points to redeem for premium award seats. This allows lounge access and the extra luggage provided for Business Class Seats.
The Qantas Business Class Lounge at Sydney International Airport is located one level up from the ground floor when entering the Duty Free Shops. Either take an elevator up or as I did – a lift.

Once entering the lounge – you only need to provide your Ticket to gain access.

Upon entering the lounge – it didn’t feel anything special – but probably had what you needed in terms of food, reading material etc.
Seats
The lounge is quite large – from memory there were around 4 sections – so people are able to spread out the lounge for more privacy.
The section where you enter into the lounge had plates setup for a table – this is possibly for people having lunch or dinner.

Food
The next section had the food and drinks. The hot food items were scrambled eggs, sausages, potatoes, baked beans and mushrooms. Very basic – but enough. You don’t want to over indulge as breakfast and lunch is also included in the business class flight.
There was a selection of pastries such as croissants.
Fruit and cereal was readily available as well.

Drinks
There were 3 drinks for breakfast – apple juice, orange juice and water (with lemon in it).
There were also 2 places in the lounge where you could get an expresso coffee made.

Toilets
The male toilet was quite elegantly laid out and had a very contemporary feel. Showers were also available.

The great thing about lounges is that you are able to stay there until they announce your flight is ready to board. My flight was 45 minutes late – so I was able to speak to my family on skype a bit longer before departing for my flight.
There is also a Qantas First Class Lounge at the International Terminal at Sydney Airport. This would usually be for First Class passengers - although you could get in if you were say a Platinium One for Qantas.
Summary
Overall a nice and basic lounge. There is also a small kids area with a TV and some toys. I would put this on the same level as the Koru lounge for the Star Alliance flights.
