I was transiting in Hong Kong International Airport and had a 3 hour timeframe. This gave me enough time to do a bit of wandering around the shops. I had to find a place first of all that served congee as that is one of my two favourite meals in the world – the other being wonton noodles. Only can I eat it in Hong Kong as they did it better than any other place.

I found a place in the Food Plaza which served it – costed $108 HK dollars though – but as it was the airport I expected the cost to be inflated.

After eating the meal – I was actually quite full – so I headed towards the Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge – called the Bridge. There are actual several Cathay Pacific Lounges in Hong Kong International Airport but I chose this one as I was informed by one of the staff at the airport that this was the newest lounge.

I had to go down the escalators and approached a check-in counter. There was a choice to go to the right or left which both had lounge facilities – but the left also had showers which I needed as I was going to board another long flight to Chicago.

I did though go to the right lounge just to check-in out before I went to the left lounge to have a shower.

The lounge was packed – there were 3 sections. The first section upon entering had seats – the second section had a dining area which had quite a good variety of chinese and western dishes. The third section had a bar where there was a attendant to assist with your choice of beverages.

After about a hour in that lounge skyping my family back home in Sydney – I went to the left lounge to have a shower. The shower was nice – spacious, modern and clean.

The left lounge also had a dining area – but did not have as much variety of food choices as the right lounge.

Overall the lounge was definitely a great experience – much better than the Qantas Business Lounge at Sydney International Airport. But I expected this as Asian countries top the world in both services, amenities and food every time. This is not just for airlines – but in my experience also hotels as well.
